eBay affiliate program leaves CJ
ebay recently announced that their affiliate program will be leaving Commission Junction. The transition will begin on April 1st, and run until May 1st. For now there is nothing we can do except wait, but on April 1st you can begin to sign-up on the eBay Partner Network. To speed up the transition, eBay will offer an added bonus of 5% for the month of April, but only for earnings generated on the eBay Affiliate Network, and not Commission Junction.
Aside for having to change the affiliate links, I don´t expect any issues with this transition. Except for a few banners that were on the Commission Junction website, most of the best eBay affiliate tools were already “outside” of CJ, and were available through the eBay Editor Kit.
Overall this move will have a positive impact. For one, we will no longer have to sign-up for the eBay affiliate program of each country. For example, I was never approved for the eBay.es (Spain) affiliate program. From now on we will be able to promote the eBay site of 12 different countries, without the need for signing-up for each one individually. eBay also promises new promotional tools, and access to more account statistics. This move will also allow people that had previously seen their application to the eBay affiliate program rejected to reapply.
I also expect that over the next few days the guys from BANS to have an answer to ease the transition for everyone with Build a Niche Stores. Although I have not seen any news to this effect, I expect that with this move, the eBay affiliate program will start making payments via Paypal. I mean, eBay does own Paypal!
Meanwhile, the generous payouts offered by the eBay affiliate program will remain the same. Just in case you didn´t know, eBay pays out a minimum of $25 per new sign-up, along with a percentage of the revenue generated from each auction. I usually get about 5 to 10 sign-ups a month, which ads up to between $125 and $250 a month just on the sign-ups. All this without any type of promotion
